The group BTS (BTS) has become the most streaming artist in Spotify.
On the 6th, "Spotify," a global audio music streaming platform, unveiled the global year-end settlement for the K-pop sector in 2020. This release is based on Spotify's flagship campaign "Wrapped," which accounts for music streaming trends every year.
According to 2020 Wrapped, the Korean artist who recorded the most streams in the past year was BTS (BTS). BTS also became the group that achieved the highest streaming record in the world in 2020.
It was followed by BLACKPINK, TWICE, Stray Kids, and Red Velvet, which achieved the highest number of streams.
In the solo artist category, IU as a female artist and August D as a male artist recorded the most number of streams. In the hip-hop and R&B genres, ZICO's "Any Song" and BAEKHYUN's "Candy" were streamed the most, respectively, while V's "Sweet Night," the OST for "Itaewon Clats," recorded the most streams in the drama OST category.
"The 2020 Wrapped Global K-pop Year-end Settlement reflects the vision of Spotify to actively support the success of various Korean artists and music around the world," said Marian Dicus, head of the global music division. "As we are set to launch officially in the first half of this year, we will contribute to creating a positive and other artists.
Meanwhile, Spotify has officially announced that it plans to start services in Korea within the first half of 2021. With the launch of Spotify in the future, domestic users will be able to access the world's largest audio music streaming service with more than 60 million tracks and more than 4 billion playlists.
